Mr. Brandwein, co-founder of PlanetConnect, started the company in part to have a dedicated staff to continue operations of a R&D development symposia he had started while with AT&T Bell Labs in the early 1990s. He also leads efforts at PlanetConnect providing high speed access in strategic hotels and a diverse set of select project development, such as work with Deutche Bank in Single Sign On development and a business spinoff related to it to Call Center development at RCI, Inc.
Mr. Brandwein spent 15 years on the Research staff within Lucent Technologies, AT&T Bell Labs and Bellcore (now Telecordia).
His research efforts have spanned areas from optical switching and atmospheric optical transmission systems to a wide range of Web and intranet/Internet based software projects within AT&T and Lucent Technologies. He led many Business development projects at AT&T and Lucent related to their development of Web properties, including participation in a web-based street mapping project (spun off to Switchboard, Inc.), Click-to-Dial (now implemented in many websites) other ventures.

As
Chief Technology Officer at Megasoft, a $10 Million CD-ROM
duplication and software distribution company in Freehold,
New Jersey. He created a development team and led the development of Web Transporter, a leading software distribution product, raising venture capital from Edison Venture Fund of Princeton, NJ. Megasoft was sold to Metatec (Now Innoveris) in Columbus, OH.
In 2005, one of his companies, The Local Group, sold it's domain (local.com) to Interchange Corp in one of the largest cash domain sales on record. Mr. Brandwein had been CEO of The Local Group since 1993.
Mr. Brandwein sits on the Boards of many companies and has helped incubate a number of startups including SportsJuice, at times lending software development and business case/fundraising expertise.
Mr. Brandwein has been an active member of a number of International standards organizations including ANSI T1, CCITT, IEEE and the IETF, including serving as Chair on a variety of committees. He was active in SONET/SDH and ATM standards development as well as development and business analysis of related products.
Mr. Brandwein's interests include development of technical tools to change the paradigm of meeting management. He has worked on a number of interesting tools and projects related to meeting management since 1994, still looking for the few new tools and appropriate price points that will significantly impact external meetings and events. He also works closely with a number of local non-profits from website and ticketing systems (e.g., Two River Theater Company), to fundraising including acquisition of public grants.
Mr. Brandwein has a Master's Degree from the California Institute of Technology and Bachelor's Degrees in Finance and Electrical Engineering from the Wharton and Moore Schools of the University of Pennsylvania, respectively. He also has completed his coursework at Columbia University, awaiting his days in retirement to complete his PhD thesis.
